New Barkby W.I.

President Shirley Franklin welcomed members of New Barkby W.I. to the Institute’s November meeting. She also welcomed County Chairman Glenice Wignall to the evenings activities.
After the ordinary part of the evening, it then became the Annual meeting. There were reports of the Secretary’s resume of the years meetings from Angela Montague, then the financial report, followed by the Presidents address, when she thanked all members and committee members for their support this year.
The ballot for President was undertaken by Glenice and Shirley Franklin was duly re-elected to serve for the next year.
Joy Goulden thanked Angela as Secretary for organising our birthday dinner during the last week, held at the Queen Victoria Public House/Restaurant.
After our annual meeting, members were invited to taste the birthday cake, cut by the President and county Chairman and toast the occasion to celebrate 98 years of New Barkby’s existence, a special social time enjoyed by all.
The competition for a favourite photograph was won by Louisa Chapman with a photograph from her childhood.
The date of the next meeting will be Wednesday 6th December 2023 at Syston Community Centre at 7.30pm when the theme will be ‘A Christmas meeting’. Visitors are always welcome to attend.
