Otter Seen in Syston

The Stn has been contacted by a reader to say that there is a wild Otter in Barkby Brook, Syston.
These beautiful creatures are a protected species and should not be approached.
Some people have been worried that it may be taking fish from their garden ponds, but we haven’t been sent any images as evidence of this.
If you are lucky enough to see one in the brook, please remember they are a protected species and if you are concerned about them please contact the RSPCA on 0116 233 6677 or their helpline on 0300 1234 999.
