Syston Twinning Visit Deville les Rouen for Remembrance 2024

A small group of Syston Twinning members visited our twinned town of Deville les Rouen over the weekend of 10th to the 13th November.
Syston and Deville les Rouen Twinning laid wreaths at the memorial in Deville on Saturday 11th November and afterwards had this photograph taken with Monsieur Gambier the Mayor of Deville, he is on the right of myself, Fiona Henry wearing the poppy scarf, with other councillors and twinning members! Picture above courtesy of Phillipe Appriou, president of Deville les Rouen twinning. Afterwards we met at the Cultural Centre for refreshments and for the Mayor to present medals to the Pompiers (fire personnel) for their service to the town and recognition of their achievements. The picture above taken by Beatrice Nectoux includes myself with Monsieur Gambier, centre, with Mayoral officers, the chief Fire Officer, plus veterans and pompiers who had been honoured. This was a great honour for the Mayor to acknowledge our presence at the event this year.
Thank you to our friends in Deville for a lovely weekend!
We look forward to our next visit in May 2024.
Anyone interested in joining Syston twinning, we are a self funding group who organise social events throughout the year, to help fund our visits or host our friends from Deville les Rouen.
