Syston to Mark 80 Years Since D-Day
The Royal British Legion and Syston Town Council are organising an event to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday 6th June.
The evening starts at 7pm as Billy Bates will have some fair rides on the park and some food stalls.
They hope to have a couple of gazebos for VIPS – where drinks will be served, plus a gazebo for Syston Band.
The Lord Lieutenant is to read out The Tribute.
Paul Baxter from the Royal British Legion (RBL) is going to light the Gas Beacon.
The event timings as follows:
7pm – Billy Bates.
8.15pm – The Lord Lieutenant Mike Kapur OBE arrives at Central Park, to be met by Chairman of Syston Town Council, Cllr John Lucas.
Other dignitaries will arrive.
8.30pm Sarah Clark to sing.
9.00pm Lord Lieutenant to read The Tribute.
9.15pm the Gas Beacon to be lit by Paul Baxter (RBL).
