Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery

Hello everybody. Well spring has sprung and we are enjoying some warmer weather. Flowering cherry trees, snowdrops, daffodils are all peeping through or are in full bloom.
We are planting the wildflower garden as I write so we should soon see the plants start to grow. Look out for them under the trees at the back of the cemetery behind the fountain garden to the right. There are signs to show where it is. I sit near the fountain garden and listen to the birds singing and twittering, it is beautiful, so peaceful.
We have entered for the green flag award again this year so can I ask that we all help to keep the cemetery looking tidy and clean. We will continue to remove dead flowers, dead wreaths and Christmas flowers.
Please join us if you have a spare hour or so. Contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council for further information, likewise if you would like to plant a standard rose tree in memory of a loved one or to hire the chapel, contact Catherine Voyce on 0116 260 7150.
Many people are beginning to realise how beautiful the chapel is and we are getting more bookings for services. By the time of publication the candle holder in the chapel will have been refurbished and given a new coat of paint.
Have a good month.
Love Ros and the Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery.
