Heating Appeal Update

Mothering Sunday 30th March
The congregations of St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Syston and St Hilda’s Church, East Goscote joined forces to hold a joyful celebration of this special day.
At the end of the service the peoples of the two churches exchanged gifts, one of primulas and the other of Sweet Violets, after which they moved to the hall at the back of the church for refreshments, including delicious, home made cakes!
Pies, Peas and Puds
This event was held in the Church Hall in Lower Church Street on April 5th. The participants enjoyed a really good meal of Pukka Pies, with mushy or frozen peas, and potatoes, followed by a selection of home made desserts. While waiting for their meal there were a couple of quiz sheets on the tables seeking answers.
After the meal well known singer Kerry Jean generously gave her time to entertain us with very familiar songs to sing or hum along to, or even rock and roll to!
We were incredibly blessed by the wonderful support from the wider Syston community.
Syston Knitting Banksy donated two raffle prizes, Pukka Pies donated the pies, Tesco donated the frozen Peas, Gamble and Hollis donated two raffle prizes, Rothley Vineyard donated a prize.
Evensong with Leicester Cathedral Choir
On May 11th there will be a sung service of Evensong at 4pm followed by a showcase concert by junior members of the Cathedral Choir. Refreshments will be served afterwards and there will be a retiring collection in aid of the Heating Appeal.
Organ Recital by Roger Sayer, June 8th at 5pm. International recitalist, film track soloist and former Director of Music at Rochester Cathedral and Temple Church, London, plays music by Bach, Mendelssohn and Mozart.

July 12th – 2pm to 4pm, Cream Teas with R J Vocal Choir
August 16th – 2pm to 4pm, Cream Teas with U3A Singers and VJ Day Exhibition.
September 13th – 2pm to 4pm, Cream Teas Heritage weekend and Ride and Stride.
