Local Lady Turns 100 years

Local lady Rene May Berta turned the wonderful grand old age of 100 on 4th June, pictured above.
Rene has lived in the same house in Syston all her life, where she brought up her three daughters on her own as her husband sadly passed 62 years ago.
She worked multiple jobs, from threading the ropes into parachutes for the health guard, to the BTH, the Wolsey, Kirkland’s in the canteen cooking for all the workforce, to the jewellery factory in Syston and many more over the years.
Luckily she still lives in her own home being looked after and cared for by her daughter Tina and son in law Nick.
She had a wonderful 100th celebration at home with her family and friends, she even enjoyed a glass of Prosecco!
