Postage Stamps

We have been alerted to the fact that some people are removing the bar code from the side of the new stamps produced by the Post Office, a 1st class one shown below.
Please do not remove the barcode when posting letters as it is now a part of the stamp itself and must be kept on.
This barcode is essential to the stamp and is needed for scanning by the post office when going through the postal system.
If you remove this barcode, the post office deem it as defacing the stamp and the recipient would not receive your letter, instead they will receive a card from the post office, saying No Postage and a fee of £5.00 is required to collect whatever has been sent to them.
Please make sure you use the stamps as purchased to avoid your friends or relatives receiving a charge from a defaced stamp.
