Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery
Congratulations to Dave who was awarded a super trooper award in the Charnwood community heroes presentation on Saturday 6th September for his work at the cemetery. We are eagerly awaiting to see if we have been awarded anything in the cemetery of the year awards.
We’re coming into a quiet time now where all we can do is to keep the cemetery tidy, remove dead flowers and tributes. As the winds increase we will endeavour to replace tributes hopefully in the correct places – if we don’t manage to achieve this please accept our apologies.
The ‘Lest We Forget’ plaque has been placed in the Poppy flower bed next to the old fountain as a reference to those who gave all in WW1 and WW2.
As usual, if you wish to purchase a standard rose in memory of a loved one, to go in the runways, or to replace a dead one please contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council, on 0116 260 7150, likewise if you wish to have a ceremony in our beautiful chapel please contact Catherine Voyce.
