Broad Street Playgroup Rated ‘Good’ in Latest Ofsted Inspection
Broad Street Playgroup in Syston, Leicester, has once again been rated “Good” in its latest Ofsted inspection conducted on 24 February 2025. The playgroup, led by Carol Proud since 1995, continues to provide high-quality early years education and care for children aged 2 to 4.
The inspection report highlights the playgroup’s strengths, including its warm and welcoming environment, well-resourced facilities and dedicated staff. Children are described as happy, confident, and engaged in their learning. The playgroup fosters a strong sense of belonging, with staff building positive relationships with both children and their families.
Key areas such as the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management were all rated “Good”. The report praises the staff for supporting children’s independence, communication, and physical skills. For example, children learn to use scissors, wash their hands, and explore mathematical concepts during play.
Parents expressed satisfaction with the care their children receive, describing the staff as caring and supportive. The playgroup also provides regular updates to parents through detailed handovers and an online app.
