Christmas Tree Festival 2025
Our church space was transformed during this beautiful event, where 45 differently decorated trees and several stalls bought sparkle, shimmer and a sense of community to Syston. Other attractions included a carefully crafted miniature beaded village and a Christmas scene with a working model railway.
While perusing the trees guests were entertained by different performances over the three-day event. The sparkling and talented After Eight choral a capella group sang a beautifully varied programme. The U3A choir and the Happy Ukelele band added a lovely Christmas feel, including some sing-along carols.
A range of tasty, warming refreshments were available and a luxury Christmas hamper and other prizes were included in the raffle.
Thank you to all those who put in time and effort to contribute to this amazing event, which raised £1,345 for church improvement funds. There was such an amazing array of varied, creative trees. The voting deemed the winning tree to be the Scouts, with a close second place being the Pharmacie Arms.
Plans are already being made for the event next year, so get those creative juices flowing and watch this space. We are also on the look out for anyone who may like to contribute to helping with running the event, if interested please contact Wendy Hardy on 0791 962 0701.
Christmas
It was wonderful to welcome so many people into church over Christmas. We held two Christingle services this year which meant that while both were busy, everyone had a seat! The church was also full on Christmas Eve for the Carol Service which was followed later by a moving service of Midnight Mass as we welcomed the birth of the Christ Child. For the first time this year we also held a ‘Longest Night’ service for those who find Christmas a difficult time of the year. It was a gentle service with opportunity for reflection and prayer which many found helpful. We also took part in the Churches Together Carols in the Square with Syston Town Band. The weather was much better than last year and it was a great opportunity to sing rousing carols and witness to our faith together.
