Still Trying to Help

Although it’s winter we’re still keeping ourselves busy looking for anything that needs to be removed from the brook.
We had a call from a resident on Brookfield Street asking for help to remove some small trees that were falling into the brook then, just down the road in Brookfield Avenue, we shifted a load of willow branches from a large tree the contractors cut back – they’ve put an ‘Eco Plug’ in it, apparently it shouldn’t grow back but time will tell.
The pictures above are from January 2026, another large tree had floated downstream and was blocking the brook, this was duly cut up and removed.
Please let us know If you see anything in the brook that is or could cause a blockage and you aren’t able to remove it safely.
We’ve prepared a leaflet ‘Create Your Emergency Plan & Kit’, it’s hoped it will help residents think about what they need in any emergency not just flooding eg. a power cut.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t afford to print it for every household so we took the decision to deliver it to as many of the homes/streets that were flooded as we could. If you would like a copy we can email it to you.
If we get any news from the authorities we’ll put it on our Facebook page, who knows they may come up trumps for us this year.
