Hoping with Fingers Crossed

So far so good, we’ve got through January and, at the time of writing, half of February. We so hope that this continues, the residents who were flooded last year deserve a break and it gives everyone more time to install flood prevention equipment and the authorities to work on flood mitigation measures.
As for us, we’re preparing an application with Syston Town Council for a flood grant for small works/equipment that the Leicestershire County Council (LCC) has made available. There’s no guarantee that it’ll be successful, they will go through each application received and choose the ones that have the most merit.
Shout Out to All Areas – please send us any ideas you have for possible small works or equipment that would help your area, the email address is below or send them to the Stn.
Fingers crossed we’ll have smiley faces in April.
Investigation work is still ongoing at Fosse Way, Severn Trent are going to put a camera into a French drain that was installed by the builders of the Wolsey Way estate after it caused flooding to Fosse Way, we’re sending in a team to try and find the inlet. Our hope is that the authorities can get this drainage working properly again or install one that does.
Please add your name to our list of volunteers, everyone enjoyed it last year, complete the online form on our Facebook page or email systonfloodgroup@gmail.com
