Summer Update from the Cemetery Grounds
A Season of Beauty, Reflection, and Community Opportunities
Summer Blooms and Vibrant Life
Summer has arrived, bringing with it clear blue skies, abundant sunshine, and a delightful chorus of birds and their fledglings. The cemetery grounds are once again a picture of beauty, with flowers in full bloom and greenery flourishing all around. This season is truly a wonderful time to enjoy the serenity and natural splendour of the area.
Grounds Maintenance and Recognition
Our dedicated Groundsman continues to take great pride in maintaining all the green spaces. In April, we were visited by the Green Flag Award judge, who carefully assessed the state of the grounds. We are keeping our fingers crossed for positive feedback and hope to hear the outcome of this visit in July. The hope is that the judge appreciated the lush and well-kept grounds as much as our visitors do.
Floral Displays and Nature’s Cycle
Although the warmer weather has meant that some flowers have not lasted as long as usual, efforts have been made to enrich the wild flower area. More seeds have been scattered throughout the garden, and we look forward to seeing these new blooms appear and bring additional colour and life in the coming weeks.
The Chapel display is now resplendent in pinks and whites, creating a tranquil and uplifting atmosphere. It’s a sight well worth visiting, whether for quiet contemplation or to spend time thinking about loved ones.
Community Involvement and Remembrance Opportunities
The cemetery’s fountain is currently available for adoption. If you would like to adopt it for a six-month period, please contact Catherine Voyce at the Syston Town Council on 0116 260 7150 for further details.
Additionally, the roses along the runways are available to purchase in memory of loved ones—a thoughtful way to commemorate someone special.
Private Chapel Hire
As always, the Chapel remains available for private hire, whether for funerals or remembrance services. It offers a peaceful setting for reflection and gathering in honour of those we hold dear.
We welcome all visitors during this beautiful season and encourage you to take some time to experience the tranquillity and natural beauty of the cemetery grounds.
