St Peter and St Paul Church News

Ladies Guild
On Saturday 5th September Mrs Sheila Borderick hosted a Cream Tea afternoon at her house. The weather stayed dry, if not very warm, and the steady stream of visitors enjoyed some delicious cakes, all involving cream, as well as a very welcome cup of tea.
In addition there was a Bring and Buy stall and raffle.
Mrs Borderick was delighted to announce that the event had raised over £250 for the Ladies Guild Charity this year, which is the Premature Baby Unit at the LRI.

Carnival
It has been some years since the church has had a stall at the Carnival. This year it was decided that we would have one with a difference! Members of the congregation donated cup cakes, which we gave away! The responses from people were delightful as they came to terms with the fact that the church wasn’t actually asking for money!

Eleven30
The first service of the new season was on 6th September. It was great to see so many of our old friends again as we listened to the story of the woman who lost a piece of silver. The children had to look for things that had been ‘lost’ round the church and then thought about friends and relatives who were ‘lost’ to Jesus.
As the children enjoyed their activity and refreshments the adults discussed the service and how they saw it progressing.

Team service
On Sunday 30th August, in glorious sunshine, the churches in the newly named Fosse Team gathered in a field next to St Botolph’s Church, Ratcliffe-on-the-Wreake for an open air service. The congregation came from all of the churches in the Team. It was a wonderful opportunity to worship and sing in the midst of God’s creation. The next Team Service is on Sunday 29th November at St Michael and All Angel’s, Rearsby.
