Assistant Principal, Belinda Nuttall has announced that she will retire from Wreake Valley Academy after 36 years of teaching at the school. Belinda joined the school on 22nd August 1983 teaching Humanities and Geography.
During her time at the school Belinda has taught over 6000 students and worked with thousands more as well as several generations in the same family. She has had many different roles and worked across all age groups including helping countless Year 6 children through the transition period from Primary to Secondary school and in more recent years has been the Head of Sixth Form. Belinda has also worked with many different community groups including girls groups, community newspapers, Syston and District volunteers, local universities and businesses.
Belinda said ‘I will miss all the wonderful young people that I have had the privilege to work with. Each day and year is different, never a dull moment and certainly no time to clock watch – probably the reason that I have been here so long!’ ‘I have worked alongside many great colleagues which has definitely made working at Wreake Valley so enjoyable. I shall certainly miss being part of the staff here.’
Principal, Tony Pinnock said ‘Belinda will be a huge loss to the school. To have given 36 years of service to the young people of Syston and the
surrounding area is amazing. She has always been the consummate professional and given her time freely to support our students. There are literally thousands of students who have been influenced and had their school experience enriched by her teaching and pastoral care. Belinda has more than earned her retirement and we are sure that her allotment will be as well organised as her students!’
