New Members Always Welcome at Town CC

Syston Town Cricket Club is starting the build up to the new season ahead. The club provides cricket for players of all ages and abilities with three senior teams being fielded every week together with junior sides of all age groups. The 1st XI will feature in the Premier Division of the Leicestershire & Rutland League for the twentieth consecutive season and the 2nd XI will be in Division 3. The Sunday XI appear in the Division 3 of the Grantham & Melton Cricket Association. New players, young and old, are always welcome so if you are thinking of joining come along to the winter nets or wait until outdoor practice starts at the ground in April. After the summer of 2018, which saw the drought open up large cracks on the outfield, 2019 was the complete reverse and the last six months in particular have seen the nothing but rain. The ground has been flooded six times during this period and irreparable damage has been caused to the club’s outdoor nets. The cost of repairs is at least £10,000 but the club is confident that funds will be raised so that a new first class practice facility will be in place before outdoor practice commences and the new season starts. The junior under 13 and under 15 sides are already practising indoors at Soar Valley College from 6.00pm to 7.00pm on Thursdays and will do so until April 2nd. The kwik cricketers will start their practice sessions in April at the ground.
