Fundraising for a Defribrillator

At Purple Badger Camping & Fishing Lakes in Beeby we are raising funds to enable us to have a defibrillator for our visitors. To help make saving lives possible we need to raise £1600. This is to benefit all those visitors locally and from afar, whether fishing, camping, glamping, simply dropping in to have a drink and something to eat or anyone in the immediate area. Defibrillators are still a long way off being as accessible as they should be.

To support us with this we are working in association with the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust

So why have a defibrillator?
At its simplest to increase the chances of survival of anyone at or near Purple Badger Camping & Fishing Lakes who suffers a cardiac arrest.

In summary, for every minute a patient suffering a cardiac arrest goes without defibrillation, their chances of survival decrease by 10%.

Currently, throughout the UK, the survival rate (to returning home) for an out of hospital cardiac arrest is in the order of 8 – 10%. As is seen in Sweden, parts of the United States and elsewhere where Defibs are widely available, access to immediate CPR and early defibrillation can increase that survival rate to in excess of 50%.

As part of our fund raising we are offering the opportunity to support us by buying an online ticket to go into a prize draw for a two night stay for up to two people in one of our luxury, lake side shepherds huts. Full details of the huts are available at

For every £2.50 that you donate you get an entry into the draw. To enter you simply need to donate through our JustGiving page purplebadgersavinglives or via our website.

All donations are greatly appreciated for this life saving equipment.
Full T+C’s are available on our website.
