Another Journey for LOROS – an Update

After setting off on their journey on 13th April, Maureen and Rachael realised they would be ‘pedalling’ illegally on the motorways, so have had to increase the distance from 837 miles to 874 miles! By Tuesday 25th May, they will be six weeks into their journey, a distance of approximately 186 miles each. Maureen is ‘on her way’ from Fort William to Glencoe and Rachael is ‘heading’ for Bristol after ‘passing through’ Taunton.
They now have a third member of the team! Faith, Maureen’s granddaughter who was eight in May, wanted to help fundraise but couldn’t reach the pedals on her mum Rachael’s exercise bike! Inspired by Captain Sir Tom’s ‘100 Challenge’, she is completing the 100 miles from her home in Hull to LOROS averaging seven miles a week either by walking or riding her bike. So far, she has travelled 42 miles and is now ‘on her way’ to Lincoln.
Hopefully over the next eight weeks they will all keep the pace up and complete their journeys by 19th July, the 23rd anniversary of Jim’s death. They would like to thank everyone for their support so far and hope to raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile cause.
Donations can be made via their Just Giving page – www.justgiving.com/fundraising/maureen-lawson1 or cheques made payable to LOROS (with Maureen’s ‘Another Journey for LOROS’ on the back) may be sent to Syston Town News, 55 Goodes Lane, Syston, Leics. LE7 2JL, and they will forward them to her.
