After nearly two decades of being involved with Barkby United Cricket Club, I will not be involved in any official capacity for the season 2022.
I have served the club as an umpire, scorer, press officer, bar manager and latterly as the club chairman.
When I took over the club as chairman, the club had only £200 in the bank and I have left them in a very sound financial position with over £30,000 in the bank.
I wish my successor David Davis all the very best for the coming season, as I do all the teams.
My grandson Thomas Asher who plays for the Leicestershire under 18’s academy has also left Barkby to join a larger club Loughborough Town.
So I will be following Loughborough Town this season. Also leaving the club this season is Rick Vivek who is also joining Loughborough Town.
I would like to thank the many people who have helped me out during my time at Barkby United.
