Brooksby Gardening Club – Jottings from the Potting Shed

Our January meeting gave us an interesting insight around the gardens of Calke Abbey, did you know there was a tunnel for gardeners so that house guests would not see them going out to work. So many improvements since my last visit – I must go again soon.
Dr Richard Gornall’s February visit introduced us to Leicester Botanic Gardens which we will visit later this year.
March will take us to the Jungles and Paradise of Cascade Gardens – can’t wait to be transported
Come and join us on the third Wednesday of each month at 7.30 at Queniborough Village Hall
Trentham Gardens will be our first day trip – a shopping village to enjoy (must take the credit card). A garden centre and more important Italian gardens and a prairie garden designed by Piet Oedolf. Next will be Brodsworth Hall, a Victorian mansion and formal gardens handed to English Heritage in 1990.
Together with our holiday around Weymouth and interesting gardens and houses to explore it looks like we have a busy season ahead..
