2nd Syston Guides Plant A Tree for the Queens Platinum Jubilee

On Tuesday 29th March, your editor joined Guides, Leaders and parents/families to see the Guides plant a tree for Her Majesty in this her Platinum Jubilee year in the Peace Garden, Central Park.
Robert from George Walker who provided the tree, was on hand to instruct the guides and those of us listening how to plant a young tree and the need to keep it well watered for its first year, in order for it to establish itself and continue to thrive and grow.
It wasn’t the warmest of evenings, but it was dry and the girls in the picture all had a go at digging the hole for the tree to go into, which wasn’t very easy and Robert had to help them achieve it.
The photos show the Guides with the tree they planted, before and after the ribbon was cut.
