1958 Half-Marathon
The Photograph above supplied by one of our readers shows the half-marathon from 1958, which went from Syston to Melton Mowbray and back again.
It was organised by the County Athletics. It is unique as it only happened that one time.

The winner was one of the two Yarwood brothers and our reader came 4th, aged 14years.
The picture was taken at the start of the event and in the background on the right hand side the Eatough factory can been seen with the air raid siren on the roof. This is now flats near the Dog and Gun public house.
