New Members Always Welcome At Town C.C.
Syston Town Cricket Club is starting the build up to the new season ahead. The club provides cricket for players of all ages and abilities with three senior teams being fielded every week together with junior sides at all age groups, as well as two women’s teams and a mid-week evening league team. After a year’s absence the 1st XI will once again feature in the Premier Division of the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League and the 2nd XI will be in, what is anticipated to be, a very competitive Division 3 East. The Grantham and Melton Cricket Association has undergone a reorganisation into just two divisions and the club’s Sunday XI will face some stiff competition in Division 1. New players, young and old, are always welcome so if you are thinking of joining please give Chris Pole a ring on 07595 159650 or wait until outdoor practice starts at the ground in April.
The Syston Women’s team, the Sirens (pictured) are going from strength to strength and will be entering two softball teams in the East Midlands Women’s Cricket League in 2023. Also the team is entering an indoor league on Thursday nights at the Orchard Mead Academy during the winter months.
The junior under 13s, 15s and 17s sides are already practising indoors at Soar Valley College from 6pm to 7pm on Thursdays and will do so until early April. The kwik cricketers and under 11s will start their practice sessions in April at the ground. If there are any queries regarding junior cricket Dave Tebbutt will be pleased to help if you give him a ring on 07805 706 860.
The club is always trying to improve its facilities and with the aid of a grant from the ECB the club will, before the start of the season, replace both sets of steps leading up to the pavilion, and in the clubroom provide a new floor covering and new chairs.
