Rotary Club of the Wreake Valley2023 Watermead Charity Challenge Run

The 13th Watermead Challenge took place on Tuesday 4th July.
Over 370 keen amateur runners and fun runners took part on a very pleasant evening. Organised by the Rotary Club of the Wreake Valley, the event saw the 5 mile traditional route and the reintroduction of a 3 mile fun run. Rotary Club Nigel Coleman said “The Watermead Challenge is a big part of our calendar and once again we have been so well supported by the large number of entrants. Most importantly, we were indebted to the superb management of the event by our Race Director and his team of helpers.
This year, we reintroduced the 3 mile fun run and I spoke to a number of people who said it was their first fun run and that it was a very safe and friendly atmosphere”.
The club always attracts a good field of runners from many local running clubs and all results can be seen on the Watermead Run Facebook page but a special mention goes to male runner Dan Hallam in a winning time of 25.53 minutes and female runner Clare Frankland in a winning time of 28.31 minutes.
The event will have raised over £4,000 and this will be used by the Rotary Club to support numerous projects locally, nationally and internationally. Big thanks to all the runners and to the many volunteers who made it all possible.
See you all again in 2024.
