St Peter and St Paul Church News

Well, the second of our Cream Tea Summer Fest was a huge success. Syston was a food basket overflowing with lovely food. Our offering was scones, jam and cream, cheese scones, butter and chutney and tuna or cheese pew picnics. Gallons of tea and coffee were drunk. There were few seats free and the enterprising managed very well in the pews! Just under £200 was raised. Hopefully this will swell the fund for the new servery and toilet in the church.
Our last Cream Tea will send us out with a bang as it’s part of our very first Heritage Open Days event. This is over two days, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September. (See details on advert below).
The BIG PICNIC trail led you round the churchyard with a focus on Matthew 14: 13-21 “the feeding of the 5000.” It was lovely to share time with so many people.
There will be a new family trail, focused on the Wedding feast, coinciding with our theme of 100 years of Weddings. There will be a box to drop brief details of any known weddings across the recent decades that have taken place in St Peter & St Paul church, along with contact details. The exhibition is free, as is entry to the church, but our cream/cheese scones will be £3 again and our pew picnics will be £2. Full details can be found on www.heritageopendays.org.uk.

This will take place on Sunday 1st October at 10am. Join us for a thanksgiving service that morning at 10am.
