Farewell and Welcome

It is all change at the Syston Town News as we said farewell to our long serving Personal Assistant at the end of December 2023. Avis Webb, pictured left, who worked for the newspaper before I bought it back in 2009, began with my predecessor in 2007 and although she has had a break for a few years she came back in 2019, so in total had been a big part of the team for over ten years. I would like to thank her for her dedication and loyalty to myself and the paper for all that time, I am going to miss her but we will keep in touch with regular coffee and cake catch-ups. Happy retirement Avis and thank you for all you did for me and the newspaper over the years, I am pleased to call you my friend.
So now what happens?

Well, we welcome a new member to our team, Deanna Johnson. Deanna has often represented myself at events over the last year or so when I haven’t been able to be in two places at once!
She has covered events and written for us, so when Avis decided to retire we asked Deanna first if she would be interested in coming to join us and she has been coming over the past couple of months to work with Avis and learn the role.
Deanna, officially began on 2nd January and she is settling into her new role very well. I look forward to working with her for a long time.
