Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery
I hope you all had a good Easter and that the Easter bunny was good to you.
I have a few apologies to make, firstly that the chapel was closed all through St Valentines week.
Secondly, Mothering Sunday weekend where we still had the cold; unreal, with LED candles in place of the living tea lights, to dedicate to your loved ones and for your reflections.
The friends of Syston cemetery have battled hard to get the tea lights reinstalled since Christmas for you.
They were deemed to be unsafe when nobody was on in the grounds.
Subsequently we had to wait for a special smoke alarm to be installed.
When that arrived and came to be fitted, on the 9th of March, it resulted in further problems. I am so sorry for you all, hopefully though, by the time this comes to print, tea lights will be reinstalled in our beautiful chapel for you to use, just as they are used in all other churches in the country.
I also hope that by the time this goes to print you will see our newly installed letterbox to heaven. Here you write a letter to your loved ones. Please place the letter in an envelope and post it in the box, ‘No Stamp Needed’.
As usual, I hope you enjoyed all of the March displays. Again, if you wish to plant a rose tree, or to hire the chapel, please contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council via 0116 260 7150.
Take care everyone
Love Ros. x
