Age UK Bookstore Easter Bunny Visit

On Saturday 30th March, the new Age UK Bookshop hosted a small Easter Event for the children of Syston with the help of Lorna from the Syston Community Group.
It was found out that one in every five children do not own a book in the UK, so with the help of the Syston Community Group they came together with the Age UK bookshop to provide an event for children to meet the Easter Bunny, receive a sweet treat and even receive a free book.
This was possibly the most wholesome thing I have ever seen and seeing a queue of happy and smiling children to meet the Easter Bunny was such a heartwarming thing to watch.
The Age UK Bookshop had an Easter colouring competition which many children seem to have handed in.
One little child even showed the Easter Bunny their colouring and gave it to them.
At one point during this event, The Easter Bunny had even hopped behind the counter to help serve some customers but unfortunately his big fluffy paws wouldn’t work on the till screens so he helped out by handing the books to children from behind the till once they had been put through the till.
It was an enjoyable event for everyone involved, the staff, Parents, Children and even Myself and it was just such a delight to see so many people turn up for this.
Let’s just hope that there will be many more events to come from our brand new Local Bookshop because so far they have already made a cracking impression in my eyes and everything they did for the children was just simply Egg-cellent!
