St Peter and St Paul’s Church News

Confirmation
On Sunday 7th July we welcomed Bishop Saju to St Peter and St Paul’s Church for a Confirmation Service.  Seven candidates were confirmed during a joyful and Spirit filled service.
They affirmed for themselves their baptism vows and received the gift of God’s Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands and anointing with oil.  Bishop Saju preached a powerful sermon reminding us that we are all made in God’s image and are loved by him. The church was full of family, friends and supporters and the candidates left to rapturous applause each holding their Confirmation candle which signifies the light of Christ.
Afterwards there was a splendid spread in the church hall put together by willing volunteers.  It was a truly blessed occasion and we hold the candidates in our prayers as they continue their journey of discipleship.
If you would like to find out more or are interested in baptism, confirmation or having your wedding at St Peter and St Paul’s please do contact Revd Ros. Our prayer is to be an open and welcoming church seeking to serve our local community.
Cream Teas
Our second Cream Teas event took place on Saturday 6th July. The promised bad weather had moved away and people started arriving promptly to enjoy their Cream Tea.
The Wimbledon theme meant there was a chance to enjoy a bowl of Strawberries and Cream instead of the traditional scone, jam and cream. This was a great success!
It was a bonus that we raised £171.50 for church funds,
The next Cream Teas event is on Sunday 4th August as there is a wedding on the Saturday! This time there will be music with R.J. Vocal Coaching Community Choir and a Book Stall.
