Grow Give Live

Grow Give Live had a great day at the Syston Summer Fayre on 31st August. It was lovely to meet so many people; thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, buy a raffle ticket or pick up some produce brought from the allotment.
We are delighted with how much produce we’ve had this year; we only started working on the plot in February, but with the help of our regular volunteers and visitors, we’ve had a fantastic haul of potatoes, apples and pears, with a magnificent pumpkin getting ready for Halloween too!
We’re still busy working up there every Friday from 10.00am – 12.00pm, everyone is welcome to pop along and see what we’re doing
There’s no pressure to know about gardening, or do any hard digging, just come along to have a cuppa and a chat and see what we’re about – we’re the first plot on the left hand side as you go into the allotment.
On our other sites around Syston, we’d like to say huge thank you to Issy Rose who has been volunteering with us for her Duke of Edinburgh award; Issy has been looking after the plot at Scotia Press all summer, keeping it watered and the weeds in check – we had some lovely potatoes and carrots from there.
It’s amazing what can be grown, in the most unlikely spaces. Our community centre planters have done well too; we’ve heard how the strawberries have been a particular favourite, with people picking them as they walk past, or as they’re popping into the lovely Duck & Willow Café
We heard from a number of people at the Fayre that they would like to join us, but can’t make the current Friday morning session at the allotment; we’ll be looking into how we can meet at different times to make it easier for people to get involved; please keep in touch via our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/growgivelive, or drop us an email on growgivelivesyston@gmail.com to join our mailing list.
