QT Theatre – Perfect 10 +2

How many of us have heard the term “Once in a Blue Moon”? You might even have used the expression yourself at some point. Well, it puts in several appearances throughout our production of “Perfect10”. It is the title of the second anthology of winning plays from the Ilkley Playhouse Writing Festival 2022. Rehearsals are now in full swing and, from a total of 25 scenes available to us, Leigh and I finally managed to settle on 12 short plays but it wasn’t easy! To be perfectly honest, we could have chosen about 16 but that would have meant very late nights for everyone.
In order to make this production a bit ‘different’, Leigh is adding some musical numbers, having chosen songs which are relevant to the scene that the audience has either just watched or is about to watch. A mixture of solos, duets and group numbers, I have really enjoyed listening to the music rehearsals whilst rehearsing the play scenes in the room next door.
Our four new actors – Amy, Andy M, Jackie and Jess – have settled in really well and we are enjoying working with them. The other members of the team are Andy Biggins, Cathy Rackstraw, Donna Gunn, Gillian Bowler, Jo Gallagher, Jules Richards, Matt Ormerod, Ranata Maynard, Ron Berry and Toby Garner, names which I’m sure you will recognise from previous productions.
The production will be performed from Tuesday 26th to Friday 29th of November at The Old Chapel in Chapel Street, Syston LE7 1GN. Please keep liking and sharing our Facebook posts so that we can spread the word far and wide! Further information re tickets, etc. is available on our website https://www.qttheatregp.co.uk. We’ll also keep you posted on ‘all things theatre’ through Syston Town News. If you need any further information, just send an email to qtsyston@gmail.com.
Rather than give you a brief synopsis of every scene, I’ve decided to give you a few (very few!) snippets from a few scenes. Hopefully they will whet your whistle and you will be intrigued to find out if your guesses are right!
“How can you start the story if you don’t know what’s going to happen?”
“Are you sure pleading ‘not guilty’ is the way to go?”
“You won’t believe who I’ve just had in here, looking to buy a house!”
“£4.50 for a pot of tea?”
“He can measure his own inside leg!”
Intrigued? I bet you are. Come along to see if you were right! We are looking forward to seeing you all again in November!
