Syston Methodist Lunch Club, 25 Years On

The Lunch Club served their first meals on the 9th November 1999. Mrs Dorothy Cotton and Mr Ted Court (both now deceased) started the club with a team of helpers from the Methodist church. The aim was to provide the elderly, especially those living alone, with a place to meet others in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and have a good lunch once a month.
Over the years the volunteer helpers have changed many times, however, there are three ladies who were there at the beginning and still help today – Christine Solway, Janice Green and Monica Naylor.
