Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery

Hello everyone.
The cemetery was looking fantastic for Mother’s Day, thank you everyone for your help.
The wildflower garden is now seeded and starting to shoot. The trees are housing bird nests you can see and hear the twittering especially the Robins and the Blackbirds.
We have noticed lots of broken pots and vases. Please be mindful of this. We have removed quite a few that were broken during the frosts in the early part of the year so if your vase or pot is missing it was probably down to this.
May 8th is the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the Friends of Syston Cemetery would like to thank SKB who has knitted a special tribute for us to include in our display, also the Cemetery Open Day is June 7th this year from 1.00 to 3.00pm why not pop along and see us or just come and chill in the peaceful surroundings.
Please remember the Chapel is available to hire for services. (this is getting quite popular now). It’s because it’s so beautiful, I’m biased of course. It can be decorated with flowers of your choice.
We’re always looking for new people to help us young or old so if you can spare an hour occasionally why not come and join us. If you’d like to please contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council, the same goes if you’d like to plant or adopt a standard rose along the runways, just contact Catherine Voyce on 0116 260 7150.
Take care all.
Ros and The Syston Cemetery Friends.
