Hats Spring Play
Hello everyone. Here we are again with another update of our Spring Play ‘Doughnuts for the depressed’ a comedy/farce written by H E Hubler and produced with the permission of Scripts for Stage.
Whilst we cannot say we always get things right we can say that we always entertain, even the disasters turn into memorable occasions. Like the time when a Pantomime Villain appeared on stage in a puff of smoke and a bang from the pyrotechnics, the smoke alarm went off and we had to evacuate the audience. And the time when another community group entered the building and walked straight onto the stage via a back entrance, hence joining us in the middle of a show. The audience thought it was hilarious. However, on a serious note, since the group started we have raised in excess of £10,000 for various charities, some local, some national. With your help we hope to continue raising money from your generous participation in our raffles.
So, let’s get back to the forth coming show. Rehearsals are becoming more serious as the cast have begun to put their scripts down and remember their lines. All are working hard and developing their characters. It’s a joy to see their facial expressions, reactions and mannerisms. Whilst the cast become more serious, it is easy to follow the plot, pick out your favourite character and try and predict what might happen. The title of the play is somewhat confusing, it is fast paced and hilarious and is sure to make you laugh. Be careful what you might find in your donuts and for all you keen gardeners out there, just take care when opening your shed doors, you never know what you might find. I say no more. You need to come along and see for yourself.
Phill is working steadfastly on our scenery and Di is creating some wonderful costumes.
Come along and see for yourself.
