Where Does Time Go!
April 2025, another flood Drop-In session attended, more discussions/emails with various Authorities and the start of the other purpose for setting up the group:
– Assist Riparian Owners who find it difficult to carry out their responsibilities.
– Establish a group of volunteers to remove rubbish and vegetation from the brook as and when necessary.
So far we’ve been able to help two households, we’ve cleared metal fencing, trees trunks and branches that had been washed down from upstream. At a third property we visited we found an enormous amount of vegetation that is causing a blockage and we are pleased to say that the EA has agreed to remove this.
Let’s all try and keep this pro-active approach going. Everyone who lives by the brook – take a look at your area and if there is anything that needs removing please contact us if you need help. Similarly, if you are struggling to clear out your home or garden after the flood please contact us.
If you would like to volunteer our Facebook page has a volunteer form you can click on and complete, we have had some replies but it would be good if we can get a lot more. We are also taking leaflets around the area asking for volunteers. The volunteer work is on a needs basis, if there’s no need we won’t bother you.
