Leicestershire Sailing Coach Wins MBE in Kings Honours

Colin Magee co- founder of the Leicestershire and Rutland Youth Sailing Association (LRYSA), a charity who focus on youth and people with disabilities has been awarded an MBE in the Kings birthday honours for outstanding services to young people and the disabled.
Colin has dedicated nearly 60 years to making sailing accessible and inclusive introducing thousands of young people throughout Leicestershire and beyond to the sport, including many from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special educational needs and disabilities. His volunteer work and leadership including adapting training for the visually impaired and autistic sailors has left a lasting legacy on the regions community.
The LRYSA has operated at many Leicestershire centres over the years from Hinckley Wharf where Colin trained many cadet groups, to Naseby and Bosworth water park. Now the LRYSA are back where it all began at Watermead Country park near Syston nearly 60 years ago adding managing and training the Leicestershire youth sailing team.
