Loughborough Crematorium
Celebrates 65 years with major refurbishments, new facilities, and community celebration
Loughborough Crematorium is marking its 65th anniversary this year with a host of community focused enhancements, including a new flower stall, a coffee cabin, and a full chapel refurbishment, all designed with local voices at the heart of the process.
As part of this milestone year, the crematorium has welcomed a local florist and an independent coffee provider to the grounds. These additions were not made for commercial reasons, but in direct response to requests from visitors looking for comfort and convenience during their time on site. The new flower stall offers fresh flowers, while the coffee cabin provides quality refreshments in a peaceful setting.
In addition, a significant chapel refurbishment is underway, beginning this July and set for completion in August. The renovation has been co-designed with 18 local funeral directors to ensure the updated space reflects the values and needs of the local community. The newly refurbished chapel will provide a more welcoming, respectful, and calming environment for families and visitors.
To celebrate the completion of the works and the crematorium’s 65th birthday, a special Open Day will be held on 30th August 2025. The event will include guided tours, meet-and-greets with the onsite team and industry experts with local Funeral Directors and their fleet and refreshments. It will also be an opportunity for the public to see the transformed facilities firsthand.
Loughborough Crematorium, which is part of The Crematorium and Memorial Group (CMG), operated by Dignity Funeral Services, has also recently been nominated for the prestigious Best Crematorium of the Year award, a testament to its commitment to high standards and compassionate service.
Jonathan Brooking, Business Leader at Loughborough Crematorium, said:
“This is more than just a refurbishment or a celebration. It’s about listening to the people who use this space, respecting their needs, and creating an environment that feels truly supportive. We’re incredibly proud of what we’re building here together, as a community.”
