Swim with Jo – Water Safety Assembly
On Monday 16th June the Stn was invited to attend an assembly at St Peter and St Paul’s Academy to watch Tracey, Tammy and Chris (Lifeguard) give a talk to the years 3 to 6 about water safety with the help of a video featuring Oscar the otter.
The children watched the video and and then interacted with Tracey as she asked them questions.
Then Tammy with Chris’ help using a whistle the different flags that lifeguards use to communicate different situations.
The children were well engaged and enjoyed participating in this activity which has a serious message on water safety, with what to do and not to do around water as they approached the summer holidays and the increasingly hot weather we are experiencing.
Tracey said they have delivered 45 assemblies to primary schools, Nurseries and community groups across Leicestershire (approx 5500 children) during June.
They teach Curriculum School Swimming (approx 350 Children) at nine schools.
They also have their own swimmers, which totals approx 2000 children.
So hopefully they have reached approx 8000 children!!!
This is 3000 more than last year!
