Launch of the MNVP – Empowering Families, Elevating Care

The Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) officially launched on Thursday 20th November at VAL, 9 Newarke Street, Leicester, marking the start of an important initiative to bring together voices, expertise, and experience to shape the future of maternity and neonatal care in our region.
The membership of the MNVP for Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland provides an independent platform for women with recent pregnancy and birth experience to share their thoughts and influence local services. By listening to lived experience, the partnership helps ensure maternity and neonatal care meets the real needs of the people it serves.
The launch event will bring together women, birthing people, midwives, neonatal specialists, and local organisations to celebrate the formation of the MNVP and kick-start its mission: ensuring every family’s voice is heard. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from key speakers, take part in networking and breakout sessions, and learn how the partnership will drive improvements in maternity and neonatal care.
Recognising that experiences of care can vary widely, the MNVP offers a platform for meaningful involvement. By fostering collaboration between families and professionals, the partnership seeks to identify opportunities, reduce barriers, and promote safe, compassionate, and inclusive care for all.
Jane Hunt and Dulna Shahid, MNVP Leads said,
“We are excited to hold the Launch Meeting for the Maternity and Neonatal Voice Partnership (MNVP) for Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. We are looking forward to supporting our existing members and invite new voices from across LLR to join us. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your experiences and help shape the future of maternity and neonatal services in our region. Your voice matters—please get involved and make a difference.”
Your voice matters! Everyone can participate in the survey, while the MNVP committee is specifically for women. To take part in the survey: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/KT60TR/
In LLR, the MNVP works closely with University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL), the Integrated Care Board (ICB), and maternity and neonatal professionals to provide constructive feedback on behalf of mothers and families. It is their experiences that guide improvements in services, ensuring better care for future families.
The MNVP service in LLR was previously provided by Leicester Mammas, whose dedication over recent years has been invaluable to women in the area. We extend our sincere thanks to Leicester Mammas for their significant contribution and ongoing support for local families.
