New Season Brings Warm Welcome at Fosseway Bowls Club
With the arrival of the 2026 season, Fosseway Bowls Club is extending a warm invitation to new players of all ages and abilities to take to the green.
For those inspired by the excitement of curling at the recent Winter Olympics, bowls offers a strikingly similar experience—albeit on carefully maintained grass rather than ice. The sport combines skill, strategy and gentle physical activity, making it accessible to both beginners and experienced players alike.
The club is keen to emphasise the inclusive and social nature of the game. Free “have a go” sessions are being held on Monday evenings, while Tuesday lunchtimes offer a welcoming environment for ladies interested in trying the sport. No prior experience is necessary, and participants need only bring a pair of flat-soled shoes.
Beyond the green, Fosseway Bowls Club also prides itself on its strong community spirit. A recent charity horse racing evening, held at the clubhouse, proved a great success—raising over £680 for HeartLink Foundation and Rainbows. The event was well attended and enjoyed by all, adding to the club’s reputation as a vibrant social hub.
Anyone interested in learning more or getting involved is encouraged to contact the club secretary Jean Harris on 0116 260 2745 or simply attend one of the introductory sessions.
