Town C.C. Trophy Winners and Club Records

Syston Town C.C. Junior Presentation Evening was held in the clubhouse at the end of the season when batting and bowling trophies were awarded to all age groups. Tanay Patel and Jai Kalyan took the Kwik Cricket batting and bowling awards. The Under 13 trophies went to Alex Ward and Archie Woolaston (pictured with Chairman Ivan Spibey) with Tanay Patel taking the under 13 trophy for the best performance of the year. Beyval Navsaria and James Tebbutt won the Under 15 batting and bowling awards respectively.
For the 1st XI Ram Ghuman scored 496 runs at an average of 27.6, and George Corbett bowled splendidly and took 32 wickets at 15.8. Charlie Royale topped the 2nd XI batting averages with 295 runs at 26.8 and Mikesh Kansagra, despite being injured for much of the second half of the season, was the leading bowler with 22 wickets at only 9.7 each. For the Sunday XI Deon Burton topped the batting averages with 395 runs at the splendid average of 79 and Adam Mortimer took the bowling honours with 14 wickets at the miserly average of 7.93.
Six senior players qualified for the award of a cap during the season; D. Burton (52 v Kegworth), Z. Taher (5-40 v Kegworth), C. Modi (6-4 v Shree Sanatan), M. Kansagra (5-9 v Hinckley), H. Singh (52 v Melton Mowbray) and A. Mortimer (84 v Welby)
A number of club records were broken by all teams in 2019. Ram Ghuman (89) and Charles Wootton (80) shared a record 3rd wicket stand of 165 for the 1st XI and Asif Mai (37) made the highest score by a number 10. Charles Wootton’s century against Kegworth was his 7th for the 1st XI. The 1 wicket victories over Loughborough Town, Sileby and Kegworth have entered the new lists of Smallest Winning Margins.
The 10 wicket victory over Hinckley Town 2nd has been added to the records for the 2nd XI as has the amazing 1 run victory against Barwell. For the Sunday XI Deon Burton has entered the list of century makers with his tons against Stamford and Queniborough.
