St Mary’s Church, Barkby
A little late but ‘A Happy New Year’ to all. The collection from our Christingle service in December amounted to £94, which was sent to The Childrens’ Society who work to improve the lives of children. Also, after our Christmas Eve Carol celebration £145 was sent to The Carpenters Arms at Loughborough to support their residential centre for men challenged by drug or alcohol addiction.?Our next event is Soup ‘n Sweet Saturday on the 8th of February between 12 noon and 2 pm. Why not join us in the church for a choice of home made soups, a selection of sweets/puddings and tea or coffee, all for £5. You can meet up with friends old and new for a good natter, service with a smile and save yourself slaving over a hot stove!! We look forward to welcoming you. We are pleased to tell you that we now have a Priest-in-charge who will be working between Barkby and Syston churches. Lee Francis-Dehqani who has been with us for the last 18 months on an interim post will now be taking the role on a permanent basis. A warm welcome awaits you at any of our celebrations, which are: At 10 am on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month there is an all ages, lay-led celebration with readings, songs and sometimes a “joining in” game. At 6pm there is Holy Communion. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays we have Evening Prayer.
