Opening of the Newly Refurbished Sports Pavilion
On Saturday 28th January the Mayor of Charnwood Cllr Jennifer Tillotson officially opened the refurbished Victor Pearce Sports Pavilion on Memorial Park, Necton Street, Syston.
Our picture above shows the Mayor of Charnwood with Chairman of Syston Town Council, Cllr Tom Barkley opening the Pavilion.
The other one shows Filbert Fox with the Mayor of Charnwood and the Chairman of Syston Town Council and a group of Councillors and members of the public.
Cllr T. Barkley thanked the town manager, Catherine Voyce, the Football Association and the local Football Clubs who had helped to raise the funds to get this long awaited refurbishment completed.
Sam, Chair of Syston Juniors FC who had arranged for Filbert Fox to be at the opening, said that due to a rescheduled match for Leicester City FC, no one from the club was able to attend.
The pavilion, which has been refurbished and extended, provides football changing rooms to Football Association standards, plus a multi-function room with a fully working commercial kitchen. Delish Catering provide refreshments from this room at weekends during the football season.
The current groups using the pavilion are Kirklands FC, Syston Town Juniors FC and Thurmaston DPC FC. Brookside Atheletic FC, Syston Ladies and Girls FC. Plus Wreake Runners.
