Leicestershire National Garden Scheme Open Gardens April
We have three lovely spring gardens to visit during April in Leicestershire.
Opening on 7th April, from 2-5pm is Stoke Albany House, Desborough Road, Stoke Albany LE16 8PT a wonderful spring garden full of colourful bulbs and blossom. A four acre country house garden with trees, shrubs, wide herbaceous borders, parterre with box and roses. There is also a Mediterranean garden, a heated greenhouse, potager with topiary, a water feature garden and sculptures.

It is Tulip time at Westbrooke House, 52 Scotland Road, Little Bowden, LE16 8AX which opens 28th April from 10-4.30. The walled garden features a wonderful show of over 10,000 tulips making a fantastic display. The spring garden features ‘Sid the stag’ with a woodland area to the front of the property which includes a large weeping willow and a river bridge leading to a folly. There is a slate water feature and rill, a secret garden with a fernery and water feature.

Also opening on the 28th April from 11- 6pm is Tresillian House, 67 Dalby Road, Melton Mowbray, LE13 0BQ. A quiet secluded garden with beautiful cedar trees, a pond, a natural bog area, many unusual plant species, hot and cold greenhouses, veg plot and pond experts Wild Water Ponds on hand to give advice. There is also a small art exhibition by local artists. Light refreshments and cream teas will be on sale.
There is free admission for children to all three gardens. Visiting one of our open gardens raises funds for many charities, including cancer and nursing charities. In 2023 the National Garden Scheme donated £3,403,960.00 to many charities.
