Councillor Report from Simon Bradshaw
Taylor-Wimpey Application South East Syston
Thank you to all the residents who have submitted their comments to the Planning Department at Charnwood Borough Council, I was made aware of an issue with the planning portal for submitting comments and have been pressing to get this fixed whilst advising residents to e-mail the planning officers directly, the closing date for comments was extended until 11th February. I am particularly concerned by the site access one plan which runs down St Paul Drive, this is not an A, B or C road but a quiet neighbourhood street, this point was made in my objection.
Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has launched a public consultation for views on the three options to reorganise the 10 existing Councils into a smaller number of Unitary Councils this is despite several local MPs calling to give the public a physical vote which the government rejected.
I have always supported NO expansion of the City’s boundary which is why I supported Leicestershire County Council Proposal for one single Council for Leicestershire and Rutland and one for the City with NO expansion of the city boundary.
The government will deliver its verdict on which proposal it favours after the public consultation has been considered, the consultation runs until 26th March and can be found at : https://consult.communities.gov.uk/local-government-reorganisation/leicestershire-and-leicester-and-rutland/
