MADS Update

We have once again had a busy and fun month at the MADS Group, So let’s give you a recap of what we’ve got up to this month.
What we have been up to
We have enjoyed playing our selection of board games which is always a nice day to allow members to relax and play a game with someone else, which also helps with the social side for those who may get socially anxious.
We’ve enjoyed a few quizzes which helps to get their brains working and thinking which is a good way to exercise the brain.
We finally had a karaoke session put on by Carl Petch and we love to have these sessions for our members because it gets everyone involved, whether you want to dance to the music or give a bit of singing a go. It has really helped open up our members and increase their confidence. We all have a laugh and we love to see the confidence that starts to beam out of members.
So that’s what we have been up to.
Funding and Donations
We want to reiterate something as well for new people who want to join our group.
We aren’t funded and most of, if not all of the aspects of the group is funded by donations. Our key donation is the minimum £1 from our members that we ask for each week. This is simply a donation towards the teas and coffees that our members have and without that £1 minimum donation, we can’t keep up with the drinks and biscuits we provide for our members. We never ask for anymore than £1 so if you decide to donate more, that is entirely your choice.
We just wanted to reiterate this as we have had a few people over our five years who have taken advantage of this and attended without making a donation but has still helped themselves to drinks and biscuits which isn’t fair to other members who do donate that £1 each week.
Notes for New Members
When you join us at the MADS Group we just want to give you peace of mind before attending that anything said personally at the group will stay at the group. Nothing will be said outside of the group and names wont be mentioned in future articles. If we do mention, it’ll be as anonymous as possible, for example with my name it would be Miss D and any photos including members who don’t want their faces showing, will have their faces covered.
We also ask that members be prepared to give us some emergency contact details. If anything happens, we then know who to call first. So if you want to attend, Please make sure you know who your emergency contact will be.
Finally, We will only ever contact emergency services if for some reason we believe that you are in danger of your own health. We are committed to keeping our members safe, so if we believe that you need emergency services we will have to step up due to our duty of care.
Hopefully for new members this will clear up some potential worries about attending the group. Everything is safe and confidential with us.
