The Latimer Players take to ‘The Park Bench’
Following the success of the pantomime last November the Latimer Players are please to announce their next production will be the comedy play ‘The Park Bench’ by Ashley Burgoyne. As it suggests, the action takes place in a local park. Charles always shared the same bench in the park with his wife. Now Charles is alone, with only memories of Rose sitting at the other end of the bench. That is until various people start to share the bench with him. These people may, or may not, be the cause of Charles misplacing something important to him.
Discover if the missing item was misplaced, or was it stolen? And find out who are the two mysterious people constantly checking their mobile phones and looking furtive!
The production will take place on 23rd, 24th, 25th April in the Memorial Hall, Thurcaston, starting at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm. There will be café-style seating and you are invited to bring along drinks and nibbles.
Tickets at £8 each are available from the secretary Christine Deavin by phoning 07740 477746 or by email to christinedeavin@gmail.com.
The Latimer Players have been putting on performances in Thurcaston since 1952 and have a thriving membership but are always on the lookout for new members. If acting is not your thing, they would welcome set builders, back-stage people, lighting and sound managers. Even if you have no experience of these things but just feel the urge to do something different why not go along? As well as putting on two productions a year, Latimer Players have monthly members’ meetings where they hold various events such as theatre trips, visits to local places of interest, skittles matches and social events arranged by members.
In November Latimer Players will be performing their annual pantomime and will be looking for new members to take part or help behind the scenes. It may seem a long way off, but auditions will take place in August, so if you think you might be interested get in touch with the secretary Christine Deavin. Christine says, “You’re never too old or too young to join us and it’s never too late to start, we would love to meet you”.
