Birstall Golf Club Seniors Team Win Annual Trophies from Rivals Rothley Park Golf Club and Lingdale Golf Club
Birstall Golf Club seniors team has had another successful year playing over twenty interclub matches across Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Lincolnshire. The season ended on 30 October 2024 by retaining the Peter Bickley Challenge Trophy against Lingdale Golf Club. In September this year the team won back the ‘Olds’ Trophy from rivals Rothley Park Golf Club.
Both competitions are played very competitively on an annually basis towards the end of the golfing season.
The photos above show shows Birstall Golf Club’s very proud seniors team captain Jag Paddam receiving the trophies from Raghbir Chagger, seniors captain from Rothley Park Golf Club and Chris Lander, seniors captain from Lingdale Golf Club respectively.
The photo also shows some of the Birstall Golf Club seniors squad nicknamed “The Grumpies”, who played in the various matches throughout the year. These wins rounded up another successful year for the club.

Birstall Golf Club is situated to the north of Leicester and enjoys magnificent views over the city, the hills of Charnwood forest, and to the east towards Rutland.
Birstall Golf Club is 6239 yards long with a par of 70 providing a fair and exciting challenge to the golfer. There are superb greens and fairways with some very challenging tree-lined holes on a layout which is fairly easy to walk. The course and the facilities of the clubhouse ensure that members and visitors alike can enjoy a pleasant but challenging round and a friendly, sociable conclusion to their visit. Societies are most welcome at Birstall Golf Club and we are easy to find being close to Leicester. An extra feature of the club is the Great Central Railway with steam engines pulling in and out of the station, adjacent to the course.
