Community Projects in Charnwood Have Received over £40,000 of Funding.
Charnwood Community Grants, awarded by the borough council, are supporting 19 local projects in the latest round of funding, ranging from day care for vulnerable adults, safe spaces for young people and support for sports classes.
The Council awards tens of thousands of pounds each year to support groups and projects.
Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s lead member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “Community projects play such a key role within our neighbourhoods so I am really pleased that we have managed to support so many with funding through our community grants scheme.
“Projects like these are often run by volunteers and funding is vital, therefore I would encourage any similar, local projects to have a look at what funding is available to them to ensure they can keep delivering their excellent work.”
Loughborough’s Rainbows Hospice which provides expert palliative and end-of-life care for babies, children and young people has been awarded £5,000 towards an adventure green garden with accessible play equipment.
The Falcon Support Services has received £3,000 to help continue their work in supporting people in Charnwood with homelessness.
£2,800 has been awarded to Equality Action to run Loughborough Mela, an annual event held in the town centre each year.
East Goscote Library has received £2,500 towards provision of creative, wellbeing, and skills-based workshops
Sporting activities and classes at Loughborough Community Cricket Club are being supported with £1,500.

£2,250 to Poplar Running Club towards a permanent storage container for club equipment.

£3,000 to Falcon Support Services towards sustaining support for homelessness and the related complex needs of people in Charnwood.
£2,952 to Loughborough United Reformed Church towards the Warm Wednesday Welcome after school club offering families a safe, warm environment with free activities and a nutritious meal.
£2,800 to Equality Action towards the running cost of Loughborough Mela 2026.
£2,500 to Age Concern Syston towards the continued running of day care group for elderly, isolated and vulnerable adults over 55 years of age.
£2,500 to The People’s Buddhi towards weekly holistic mental health support to those living with dementia and their carers in South Charnwood.
£2,500 to Home-Start Horizons towards the continuation of the Charnwood family support group for parents and children under 5 years of age.
£2,500 to East Goscote Library towards provision of creative, wellbeing, and skills-based workshops.
£2,365 to The Beasts Health and Well Being Centre, towards funding for one volunteer to complete Level 3 Exercise and GP Referral course to better support participants with chronic conditions.
£2,000 to Mill Field Forest Gardeners towards the training of volunteers to manage the garden and deliver weekly horticultural activities and support for residents in and around Thurmaston and South Charnwood.
£2,000 to PACE towards the extended provision for their Sassy Seniors group reducing social isolation through intergenerational activities.
£2,000 to Leicestershire LGBTQ+ Centre towards the establishment of a Youth Provision for 13–17year olds at the Loughborough Wellbeing Centre.
£2,000 to Spectrum Sensory Sports to create a new administrative post to improve capacity of the organisation and its delivery of activities for neurodiverse young people.
£1,800 to Modern Painters New Decorators, towards providing cultural activities to re-engage communities with the diverse heritage of Charnwood.
£1,800 to Anchor Youth towards providing a safe space, food, and activities for disadvantaged young people.
£1,500 to Loughborough Community Cricket Club towards delivery of activities at the softball cricket club.
£1,000 to Birstall Playgroup for Children with Additional Needs towards annual running costs and rent for the group.
£800 to Birstall Theatre Company towards their next production of Puss in Boots.
